Community-based sites

Indy Summer Learning Labs partners with community-based organizations like churches, community centers, and daycares to offer summer programming in their facilities. These organizations receive support with funding, hiring, staff training, and more to provide students with a high-quality ISLL program.

ISLL Community Site Application

The application for Indy Summer Learning Lab community-based sites is now closed. If you have questions about the application, please reach out to our team at program@indysummerlearninglabs.com.

ISLL Community Based Site Hiring Support

Community-based sites will need to hire all staff except instructional teaching staff. The Mind Trust and partners will hire and place teaching staff for each community-based ISLL site.

Compensation for instructional staff (ELA/Math teachers, Supervising Teachers, and Classroom Assistants) will also be handled by The Mind Trust and partners. Community-based sites will be responsible for compensation for all non-instructional positions.

Community-Based Site Requirements

More information

Where did the summer programming dates come from? Are they flexible?

The programming dates are June 17 -July 19, 2024. They were chosen to accommodate the academic component of the day and the schedules of most schools in Indianapolis. While some sites may extend beyond the five weeks, the official Summer Learning Lab schedule is not flexible.

If we sign on as a learning site, what does my organization have to pay for? Will we have clarity on funding before we commit?

Click here to see the 2024 ISLL Funding model document. The document has more details on what sites pay for, what they are provided, and how and funding is calculated.

We have academic programming we are really proud of, yet we also like some of the offerings of the Indy Summer Learning Labs. Can we still join?

All ISLL sites are required to use the Lavinia RISE math and reading curriculum. Please reach out to program@indysummerlearninglabs.com with any questions and to learn more about becoming a site.

Our organization typically charges a fee for our summer program. Is that okay?

Sites may charge a minimal fee. In the application, you will be asked to share how much the fee will be and how fee revenue will be used in conjunction with ISLL funding.
