Summer fun included! All sites offer activities like field trips, STEM clubs, athletics, cooking, arts, and more.
ISLL sites receive funding to offer enrichment activities to their students.
Why Indy Summer Learning Labs Works
Focus on Acceleration
The English Language Arts (ELA) and math curriculums are aligned to Indiana state standards and designed to give students material that prepares them for the next grade level. Created by Lavinia Group, the curriculum was developed to accelerate learning in each subject over a five-week time period.
Instead of remediation, students work on problems that level-up their learning.
Reaching Highest Need Students
ISLL removes barriers to impactful, safe, and fun summer programming to impact as many students as possible. The majority of sites are free to attend and many offer breakfast and lunch each day.
Maintaining program elements that help working families access summer programming is an essential commitment for ISLL and our partners.
Community and School Partnerships
Community partners work alongside districts and schools to offer ISLL. Community centers, churches, and youth-serving nonprofits serve as site locations in neighborhoods across Indianapolis. Site location partners are not burdened with the task of curriculum development, allowing them to efficiently implement high-quality summer programming.
This model allows for greater program reach and uses the expertise of a wide variety of community organizations.
Indy Summer Learning Labs is a program of The Mind Trust, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that works to expand access to high-quality education for K-12 students.
Indy Summer Learning Labs was launched in 2021 by The Mind Trust and The United Way of Central Indiana. In 2024, The Mind Trust gained full responsibility of ISLL program management and partners with schools, districts, and community organizations as site locations.
